Not everyone can attend all the matches or if you did not buy a programme then we have included the latest notes below.

Bedford Rugby Followers Association

Good evening everyone.

Tonight we welcome Doncaster Knights, who will no doubt prove to be formidable opponents, as usual.  If the match is anything like the feisty encounter with Jersey last week, then a fascinating game is in store.  Both teams pride themselves on their forward power, so the Blues pack will need to bring their ‘A’ game to an almost certainly packed Goldington Road.

Speaking of the Jersey match, it was amazing to see so many Blues supporters making the long trip and (very loudly) cheering the boys on.  Pat Tapley was named MOTM for a solid performance capped with a breathtaking try.  Not many players can catch Pat with a clear run in.  Although a disappointing match loss, a try bonus point is always welcome.

A special mention must go to the very professional Jersey airport staff.  They managed the reception and PCR testing of the many Blues fans with efficiency and minimal stress to all.

The Bedford Rugby Followers Association, AKA the Followers, is in full swing with preparation for the forthcoming away matches.  Our goal, as always, is to transport as many Blues supporters to the away matches as possible.  As one seasoned player once said to me “the sight of the coach(s) packed with Blues supporters, pulling in to the away team car park really lifts the spirit of the team”, the sixteenth man!

There are many away match trips in the pipeline starting with Ampthill on Saturday 9th October K.O. 3 pm.  Expect another cracker of a match at Dillingham Park.  The Coach leaves Goldington Road at 13:30 for the cost of £5 adults and £0 juniors!  Real beer lovers may want to try one of the delicious Ales on offer at The Albion in the town centre, before the match, which comes highly recommended, from personal experience of course.

Next up is Hartpury away on Saturday October 30th K.O. 2:30 pm.  Tucked away in the Gloucestershire countryside the Hartpury college campus provides the venue with bar and food available.  Coach leaves at 10:00 am for the cost of £26 adults and £13 juniors.

The Followers raise funds to help subsidise the travel costs, as well as giving the Rugby club financial support for key purchases e.g. gym equipment.  We also support The Blues Foundation.  The mainstay of fundraising is jackpot tickets.  You will find the sellers at various locations around the ground.  Also look out for the new Gazebo outside the Marquee.  Some great cash prizes to be had, so buy some and you could be the next winner!

For all away matches, please book via Margaret Appleton in the Followers Office, telephone 01234 354708, or email  our office is the grey building between the main gates and the stand, just follow the arrows.  Details of away trips will also be found on our website
